If we do go back, I would explore some of the smaller and cheaper resorts around the lake. I am a beginner skier and don't need the more advanced slopes. Also - if you have a rental car - it is easy enough to try different slopes.

The area got hit with some consistent snow recently, so the skiing should be just fine.

Also - the views at Heavenly were amazing!  Iwas very impressed.[/quote]
