I seem to have heard elsewhere as well that it's hard for the kids to get their first choices. Do they enjoy the ones they do get? Does 2 weeks seem too long without AC? Do fans help? (DC is used to being in the heat with only fans when she visits Grandma back home and her asthma has not flared up.)
Fans help a little. My dd gets migraines when she gets too hot and she has issues with the long walk back from classes at 3pm when the day is at it's hottest. And yes, it is difficult to get into the course you want. I'd say anything science based is likely the most difficult to get into. They use a strange kid-ranking system that tends to fill the most interesting classes with the highest ranked kids and everyone else gets what is left over. My dd has had a few courses that she really didn't enjoy. She's a science kid and courses about history, art, and sports are not fun for her.
