I think there is some context to the tweet that you may have missed. A couple of storms ago, a HS student tweeted the DCPS feed asking if schools would be open because she needed to know whether or not to do her calculus homework. The DCPS Twitterer replied back that calculus homework is always important. The student was thrilled to see her tweet acknowledged and since then the DCPS Twitterer has had an ongoing good-natured banter with the student and her friends. The tweet that you quote was DCPS way of saying, "do your homework".
