Last snowstorm, or maybe the snowstorm before, I went to bed with my smart phone set to WTOP, a station that DCPS suggests on their website as a place to look for school closings.  Several times in the night, I woke up and refreshed but didn't see an announcement.  Later I found out that DCPS had announced on Twitter and Facebook hours before they finally posted on WTOP.  That's ridiculous.  Information about school closings should be readily available, not requiring someone to "research" on various websites to find the one they chose to use this time.

DC had enough manpower last night to send the following, obnoxious in my opinion, tweet:

If they could do that, then they could notify the news networks that they've said they would use, and have a simple "open on time" listing.

To be clear, I'm not upset that they're open today.  I'm merely upset about how they announce, or in this case, didn't.

OK, that's weird.  That's an old tweet from a previous storm.  The one that I attempted to copy, and that I think is obnoxious, is the one they sent out last night that says

HS Students: Schools are always open unless we make a closure announcement.

I think it's obnoxious, because it implies that wanting to know whether school is closed in time to make plans is something only HS students would want to know.  If the issue is that they're getting multiple tweets because they don't announce clearly, then they should fix the issue, not send silly tweets like that.  [/quote]
