According to their own statistics, the AAP centers are not 18% of the elementary population.  AAP level IV services are given to only 12% of students.  (See page 13).

Page 12 shows that only 5.3% of the student population this year were found eligible for level IV services, and 14% are enrolled in Level IV centers.

The district says that 44% of the students overall are receiving 3rd-8th grade AAP services.  That means roughly 30% of our students are receiving local level II-IV services in AAP, nearly half of the students in grades 3-8.  That is a very large number of non-center students receiving enrichment and differentiation, in spite of what poster on the board might have you believe.

There are other interesting statistics in this document about the cost of AAP certification, numbers by center, etc.

Another interesting document is the lawsuit against fcps over TJ admission.

Page 10-11 show the demographic breakdown of level IV center identified elementary and middle school students.

Even though Asians/Indians make up less than 20% of the entire student population of fcps, they comprise 32.4% of the Level IV center identified students, more than double their overall enrollment.  Whites comprise a little over 42% of the overall district population, and are 51.3% of the AAP level IV center identified students.

Very interesting stuff.
