In fact ph has a good chance of purging the old homes because they are small and easy to teardown. Other areas have homes that are just barely passable and don't get torn down. Did you see the terrible new home in lyon park Arlington? Reminded me of the homes that were built in the 80s in ph but are no longer being put up.
