We currently don't own a car but assume we would need to buy at least 1, which I think DH would use to drop DS at school and drive to work, and I would walk/public transportation to work each day.  (I currently spend approximately 90 mins on NYC subways each day but would like to cut this down to 1 hour or less, if possible)

Recommendations we've heard so far are Arlington, Fairfax, Bethesda and Silver Spring, but these are all from people without kids.  Would love any collective advice from this group on where you would move.  Thanks in advance.[/quote]
