We receive a folder everyday with one or two writing and/or math worksheets enclosed that were completed in class. This is somewhat sporadic but is pretty much the only information we get on what is being taught. We get a reading book that is being used to practice at home. The only other source of info we have is our child, who barfely remembers what he had for lunch let alone what he learned in school. if we're lucky, we get bits and pieces ou of him. The reason I am concerned is that my child has mentioned on many occassions that he is falling behind. I reached out to the teacher and asked if she could list out for me what is being learned each week so we can practice at home. I got push back on providing information to me and was told my son is doing just fine and not to worry. Well, I do worry because he doesn't feel he is doing well. I got general tips on the types of stuff to do with him - read together, practice writing, but nothing specific to what is being taught. i barely know if he is learning addition or calculus! Is it standard Mont County practice to not readily provide this info to parents and that I should just trust the teacher? FWIW - we rarely have any of the projects worked on in school come home to us. We have seen one project that was done in art since Sept. Is parent teacher communication non-existant? How would you handle?
