Why on earth do they cut a landline? Doesn't fios provide land line service?
by "landline" OP means a traditional copper line, where the line carries enough electricity to work. FIOS offers a "landline" where the phone service is (I think) provided over a fiber optic cable with a router that requires an external electric power source to work. In a power outage a copper line will continue to work while a FIOS line will eventually go dead.
This is what I'm telling you, you don't get any phone service in a power outage. Nada! Even within seconds of a power outage. It's dangerous b/c if a cell phone isn't charged or easily accessible, you are screwed if you have to call 911.
