I am a full-time, 38 year old, Fairfax County licensed, childcare provider from Springfield, Virginia (on the Burke end of Sydenstricker Road).  I provide full time care for infants through preschool aged children.  I babysat as a teenager, I have been a step-mom for 13 years, a mom for nine years, casually babysitting, and now a step-grandma!  I have life experience under my belt as well as several county and online classes, including professional childcare business classes and certification program classes for professional development.  I have taken other classes in; Transportation and Field Trip Safety, Music in Early Childhood, Rainbows and Rembrandts: Enhancing Art in the Preschool Classroom, USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program, Attention Deficit Disorders, Oral Health in Early Childhood, Superhero classes, and my most recent Outdoor Learning.  I am CPR and First Aid trained.  I enjoy what I do which makes a BIG difference.

Some of the things we're doing in November - you can continue to encourage at home!
 
Let your child help you make mashed potatoes (cooking/coordination)
Help your child make brown handprint turkeys on paper (art)
Show your child how to run and trot like a horse (movement)
Read the story of "The Little Red Hen" (literature)
Let your child help pass out napkins at a family dinner (responsibility)
 
 
 
 
 
I have gathered many ideas and suggestions from a website called Preschool Express, which I LOVE, especially our calendar plans.
