I recently started running pretty regularly -training for a 1/2 marathon in February. I am not a great runner but figured it was a good, doable goal to shoot for. I'm running 3 miles a couple times a week, with a longer run on the weekends (5 miles this past weekend). I had old wornout shoes with the tread pretty much gone and knew I needed to get new ones quickly, but I was feeling fine running with no injury issues. I finally got the new shoes last week. They seem fine, the guy in the store watched me run, they feel good, etc. The guy was pulling out a bunch of pairs for me to try and embarrasingly enough I didn't realize what size I ended up buying until I got home. They are an 8.5 - I know you're supposed to go up 1/2 to 1 size but I normally wear a 7 or 7.5 and they feel a little loose. Ugh. The two runs I've done since I got the new shoes, my toes are bothering me. One toe in particular seems like it might have a blister on the tip and seems bruised under the toenail. The toenail hurts. Could this be because the shoes are too big? Seems odd but the timing is definitely correlated with switching to the new shoes (could be coincidence with a longer run last weekend...) I hate the thought of buying another pair of new shoes but maybe i'll have to bite the bullet. thoughts from experience runner?
