I'll be starting to apply for a new job sooner rather than later, and the discussion on whether or not to wear hose got me thinking... HOw tall is "too tall" for interviews? I'm 5'10 in bare feet, and when I interviewed for the job I have now I went somewhat out of my way to find non-frumpy shoes with a kitten heel. However, that was a WHILE ago now, when kitten heels were fairly common. Now is seems like dress shoes are either flats, casual wedges, or 3"+ in height. So... in a random poll, what do you think? Would wearing a plain black pump that put me over six feet tall be OK? Should I start now to try to find a shorter pump, with say a 1"-1.5" heel? Should I go with flats and a pants suit instead of skirt and heels? Does it really even matter in the long run? :)
I'm 6'1" in bare feet and it had never occurred to me that there was a height that was "too tall for interviews." I think you should wear what makes you comfortable and confident. I personally would never wear a skirt and heels to an interview; but if that works for you, wear the clothes that will make you feel competent and allow you to answer the interview questions with aplomb.
