During the celebration of Eid al-Adha, Muslims commemorate and remember Abraham's trials, by themselves slaughtering an animal such as a sheep, camel, or goat.The symbolism is in the attitude - a willingness to make sacrifices in our lives in order to stay on the Straight Path. It commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God. It also marks the end of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia undertaken by about 1.5 million Muslims.
