Boundaries have not been drawn yet, but if you live in Somerset, your child is likely to go to Westland for MS. If you live in RH/NCC area, your child is likely to go to the new MS which will be N of the beltway in Kensington (east side, Rock Creek Hills is name of neighborhood, I think). Unclear how Chevy Chase residences will fall out in the boundary between the two. Much of north and east Chevy Chase is likely to go to the new MS simply based on proximity. Impossible to tell about how the quality of the 2 will compare, but you should know this going in to factor logistics into your future life.
OP here. Thanks, this is a good point. And I think I read something on the MCPS website this weekend saying that when the new MS opens, 6th graders from NCC and CCES will move to the new MS, bringing those schools down to just 3-5 (memory is fuzzy, I have a baby who isn't sleeping well).
