In the Longfellow district of the AAP kids coming in, the majority of them qualify for Algebra I Honors ... an Honors, more accelerated version of Algebra I (counts for HS GPA with a 0.50 bump up because it is considered a high school honors course) ... in 7th grade.
I definitely wouldn't say "the majority." At Haycock, only 57% of the AAP 6th graders received pass advanced on the 7th grade math SOL, and of those, there were more who didn't qualify on the IAAT. We were really surprised how few of the kids dc knew from ES are taking Algebra.
