It is never fine for a child to miss a meal, particularly on a school day! The kids are allowed to choose from a small variety of breakfasts, but once they choose, they have to eat it, or else. The hot breakfast DH makes is the French soft-boiled egg in an egg-cup with buttered toast "fingers". Otherwise they can have yogurt with granola, or toast with cheese. Cold milk. Lunch (if eaten at home) and dinner are not even a choice. They eat what's on their plate, period.
Or else... what? Sometimes my kid is simply not hungry in the morning. If she doesn't eat, then she needs to wait until morning snack. I encourage her to eat breakfast, but if she doesn't want to eat, I can't make her eat. How do you make eating "not a choice"? I really don't get it.
