I'm 21, and while I agree that my generation and those younger then me are vastly immature, lazy and just pathetic... I think your also in the wrong... First of all babysitter doesn't equal nanny... I've never babysat for a family on occasion and had them as me to do their laundry or mop their floors... That's a little ricoulus. Your nanny does it because its HER job (I am a nanny...) your neice probably thinks its a little odd for you to expect her to wash your nasty dishes. However I'm with you on CPR training... Everyone should have it but perhaps she can't afford the class to only make you feel comfortable when she's babysitting for you very infrequently. Your nephew sounds a little spoiled but you also sound a little nit picky. He screws EVERYTHING up? That's pretty hard... Is your neice aware her grandparents can't get email or Facebook? I mean she's sending them to an address so that means their are accounts at least established... Maybe you could kindly tell her or print some yourself - since you have Internet access...? My generation sucks. But we're not all condemned..
When I babysat, I absolutely cleaned up after us and left the house a bit cleaner than I found it after the kids were in bed. There is no difference between a babysitter and a nanny except to me a babysitter works 30-40 hours and a babysitter is occasional. For $15 an hour, I expect a lot. For $8-10, ok, play with the kids, but at 21, to expect a professional salary for a care taking job is a bit absurd. Family is family - you don't charge as one day you may need help too and would want them to help without expecting payment.
+1
