Related to OP's post, at what age should girls be shaving by? This weekend I was surprised to see my niece, age 13, have rather hairy legs. None of my business, but it just made me curious as my kids are much younger.
There is no age which girls should be shaving by, because shaving legs, for girls and women, is neither a developmental stage nor an obligation. What age do girls typically start shaving their legs by? That is a different question.
Right on! It's ridiculous that shaving is being treated as a societal obligation, at increasingly early ages. What's next, full body electrolysis for newborn girls? The thing is ... as my very hairy daughter is about to enter middle school in a few weeks, I find myself putting pressure on her to shave before her first day of school. I don't think she is making any kind of statement. She is just lazy (she'd never brush her teeth if I didn't remind her) and afraid of razors. Should I just shut up about it and let her find out first hand how cruel middle school kids can be? What is the likelihood the other kids won't care, given that she was already teased about it in 4th grade?
