I received an estimate of around $3,400 to powerwash my 2300 sq. ft house (I live near the Beltway and it's dirty!) and large back patio, and use Sherwin-Williams to paint all the trim (including columns, porch railings, porch ceiling, 2 bay windows, 1 multiple window basement casement window, 14 6 over 1 windows (2 or which are floor to ceiling), 3 foundation windows, a french door with two floor to ceiling paned side windows that are as wide as the french doors), 10 shutters, front door with paned floor to ceiling sidelights, rear door with 6 panes and four large triangular architectural elements. The large bay window is south-facing and requires scraping and priming. It will also include scraping peeling paint and repainting our brick chimney and three two-step sets of stairs. The south facing large bay window and trim will also require scaping and priming in addition to painting. The garage door and trim has already been scraped, repaired and painted so he won't be doing that. The estimate does not include painting the brick walls/Hardiplank siding because all of that is still in good shape. My question is, does this bid sound reasonable? This guy works carefully, is very neat and does quality work. I'm not looking for the cheapest price which usually means messiness and a lack of attention to detail, but I don't want to be paying too much either. I know I should get another bid, but this guy is a known quantity to me. He did some top-notch interior woodworking and other repairs for me and is the go-to guy of my architect friend so I'm not willing to get a bid from just anybody. WWYD? Thanks. (And sorry this was so long-winded).
