Has anyone experienced this? Trying to decide if it's time to take him to a specialist. He's 27 months now and he appears to walk normally. However, when he runs, he very clearly favors one side. He has a very cute lopsided run where his right arm is moving and his left arm is pretty straight to keep balance. When he was younger, one of his feet turned pretty obviously inward when he started walking, and our pediatrician referred us to a specialist at Georgetown. I think he was only 16 mos at that time and the specialist looked at him for a total of 1 minute and said (very confidently, I should add) that the only issue was that my son was turned a certain way in the womb which caused one foot to turn inward, and that it would sort itself out very quickly once he started walking more. Sure enough, we saw a pretty obvious change within a month or two. However, now that he's running I'm getting concerned again. He seems to get by okay but he's definitely slower than the other kids his age. I've tried searching the web for "uneven gait," etc but very few websites talk about this (and if they do, they usually attribute it to an injury on the one side which is causing them to use the other side more). I don't think he has an injury. Anyone experienced this? Do you think I should give it more time to sort itself out or should I be worried about a developmental problem at this point? Does anyone know of a good specialist for this? Hesitant to waste time seeing the same guy at Georgetown again. TIA!
