FYI. Chavez is an option only for in bound students and it is not full immersion but dual. Also, there are plans, for the principal of the Elsie Whitlow Stokes Public Charter School in DC, Dr. Rodriguez-Murillo in coordination with interested area PG parents, to establish a Spanish Immersion Program entitled Maryland International Preparatory Public Charter School. PG County has two fabulous and thriving Full French Immersion Programs that rival the surrounding counties like MoCo and Fairfax. Full immerson means students learn to speak, read and write fluently and with comprehension. Dual/Two way means the target language is only learned 50% of the day or time; however the curriculum is designed to be provided. This does not necessarily include reading and writing in the target language.
Thank you for posting about about our effort to start an immersion charter school in PGCPS and excited to see this discussion happening. Just a quick note, Dr. Rodriguez-Murillo is not the principal of Elsie Whitlow Stokes Public Charter School. Please keep an eye out for additional information about Meet and Greets with the proposed Maryland International Preparatory Founding Board members that are currently being scheduled across the County. We look forward to talking with as many parents and other stakeholders as possible about expanding immersion education opportunities for Prince George's County students be they traditional public or public charter schools . Come out and support the campaign if you can. If you want additional information, feel free to email EmpireEducationGroup@gmail.com.
