PG County has two fabulous and thriving Full French Immersion Programs that rival the surrounding counties like MoCo and Fairfax. Full immerson means students learn to speak, read and write fluently and with comprehension. Dual/Two way means the target language is only learned 50% of the day or time; however the curriculum is designed to be provided. This does not necessarily include reading and writing in the target language.
PP, here. The space allotments for the French Immersion Program are really limited. If you are zoned for a less than desirable school, taking a chance on getting one of those slots is a real gamble. Personally though, a French Immerson program would not be an option for my family. I do appreciate you posting the information on the new possible Spanish Immersion Charter School. As I have said in my posting before, we would love to help with the development of the school and I do mean in constructive grassroots ways. I am personally trying everything that I can to make the public school system work for my family. I even called my local school to volunteer, left messages twice, and have not received a phone call back :(.
