There are currently some slots available in this Fall's classes at Cedar Lane Nursery School (CLNS) in Kensington/Bethesda (intersection of Cedar Lane & Beach Drive). CLNS is a wonderful, small cooperative preschool. We teach the Creative Curriculum, which emphasizes learning through play. Each child gets personalized attention due to the small class sizes and you would have the opportunity to learn along with your child when you coop in the classroom. The social and emotional development of each child, along with the development of a love of learning is fostered in each classroom. The 2s class meets Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30am-12pm. The 3s class meets Tuesday-Thursday from 9:30am-12:15pm. The 4/5s class meets Monday-Friday from 9:15am-12:15pm. For students aged 3 and up there is a Lunch Bunch program available Monday-Thursday, which runs 12:15-12:40 pm, and Extended Day is available on Monday-Wednesday 12:40-12:30 pm. My daughter graduated from there and my son will be in the 4/5s class. It has been an invaluable experience for both of them (and for me and my husband). My daughter was more quiet and loved reading and dress-up, my son loves climbing and is very physical. Both had very positive and successful experiences. You can learn more about the school, the teaching philosophy and parent responsibilities here www.clns.org.
