I admit to thinking about it because one sibling got into both and the other sibling is on 2nd and 4th on each wait list for a higher grade that does not move much. If I keep the sibling enrolled in both the second sibling can keep his higher place. I haven't done it, I called the school and they said if I withdraw the sibling 1 the other gets shoved down. I know its awful but now I read this thread and your actually legally allowed to do it I may reconsider until the other gets off the wait list.
Honestly, I think you have to (hold 2 spots). You didn't make the rules, you're playing by them.
The paper I signed when I registered didn't say anything about a sibling exception. If these are the rules now, where are they written that this is an acceptable reason to sit on 2 seats? I understand why someone in that position would want to, but I don't understand how anyone's saying it is within the current rules. As I understand the rules and have seen them written, it is NOT within the rules and that PP could be asked to choose. Again, at some point, this PP will have to choose. How far into the summer or next school year do you all feel it's acceptable to sit on the two spots? How close to the top of the waitlist is "close enough" to allow sitting on 2 spots? There are just too many variables and to be fair, once you get in, you have to assess your choices and chances and make the choice that suits you best. But I look forward to when PCSB has it together enough that you simply cannot sit on both slots, and that you have to choose (within a reasonable time of offer, like maybe 2 weeks at most).
+1 on all counts.
