I'm interested in St. Peter School in DC for my rising K daughter who is multiracial (black/white). We are parishioners at St. Matthew's which is a new supporting parish of the school. Can anyone with experience at the school comment on how she would be received by staff and students? I'm looking for an inclusive environment that would support her identity development. I don't want her to be boxed into one group or another or forced to identify only with one group or another. I'm trying to avoid a culture of cliques based on race. I am hoping to hear that there would be no major issues. Thanks in advance!
St. Peter's is one of the oldest schools in the region and has always been racially diverse because of its location on Capitol Hill. Although the Hill has become more affluent in recent years, and the school is much more academically rigorous, it still has the feel of an urban neighborhood school with genuine socioeconomic and racial diversity. You should definitely check it out.
