We're looking to buy in the Timber Lane school district that feeds into McLean HS. I'm looking at the boundary map and it's an island with the areas next to it feeding into either City of FC or Marshall. I also heard that Timber Lane is a split feeder, feeding into either Falls Church HS or McLean HS. Is there any talk of changing the current boundary from McLean HS to have it feed into Falls Church HS or Marshall? Is McLean HS considered overcrowded?
McLean is becoming over crowded, Longfellow is already over crowded and the feeder ES are at capacity or over crowded. Marshall is going through a renovation that is supposed to increase its capacity. In past redistricting, the SB has tried to eliminate islands and peninsulas. There are two or three (including the Timber Lane one) that would probably be at risk. If it is redictricted to Marshall, McLean would be the AP HS, currently MclEan allows transfers from Marshall who want AP vs IB (and vice versa). McLean and Marshall are alos slated to get quite a bit of the Tyson's growth in the coming years, so I would expect any redrawn districts to take that into account too. Nothing is on the immediate horizon though.
Actually, if Timber Lane were redistricted to Marshall, Falls Church HS would be the closest AP school, not McLean. And I believe that Timber Lane is much more at risk of being sent to Falls Church than Marshall in the first place. Marshall is expecting a large influx with all of the growth and new metro stations near Tyson's.
