I didn't actually post these to get people to fund or to request donations. More to put a human face and story to the survivors. Some will absolutely need funds as they have significant costs that won't be covered due to life altering injuries. Your friend should probably take down the fund or ask the person who started it to take it down if they don't need the money. There are many general funds for people who want to donate generally.
