It's possible her hair is actually more wavy/curly than you think since you brush it out. Once products are in my hair, I don't touch it with a brush. Mine naturally parts slightly to the side. I do have some bangs, but unless you want to manage their upkeep (trims every few weeks, unless you learn to do it yourself), I wouldn't recommend them. 
Spin pins are good for keeping hair up and they really "lock" it into place. They also have mini ones which would we good for doing a half ponytail. [/quote]

wavy hair does not fan out like bozo.  Curly, yes, but the OP said her child's hair is wavy.  and chin length does not equal a bob cut (believe me I've had many many bob cuts before and they are much shorter than chin length).[/quote]
