Anyway, it's a shame that Latin will lose some of it's students due to ignorance, especially at the HS level, because once a student is gone, they can't be replaced.  But, as a parent, you have to feel as though you are sending your child to a reasonably safe school, it's just that in this instance I think the parents are wrong and their "fears" are unwarranted.  disclaimer:  I have not looked on the DC police web site and checked out crime in that area.  I just know when I walk around the neighborhood, I feel safe.  My daughter has played at the nearby playground and I would have no problem with her walking around.[/quote]
