OP, I'm 39. We waited a bit longer than expected between kids and then it took a while for the second to "take." Second pregnancy is VERY new, so I'm still in the nervous "is it really happening" stage. But so psyched, obviously! Because I'm older, and was trying for a while, but because I did not wish to do any interventions (clomid, hormone treatments, IUI, or IVF) I began to experiment with supplements. I also tweaked our "doing it" schedule a lot. I joined fertility friend, which is an odd site, but provides a LOT of information about your cycle that, unless you are really tracking it closely, you may not have known. I also used a fertility monitor and I think that, in some ways, was making me overconfident about my ov dates so that I stopped having sex too soon mid-cycle. (Most monitors suggest you will ovulate the next day after an LH surge is detected, so we were having sex up to the day I thought was ovulation, but then by that time, we'd had so much sex we were worn out and took a break, which I think was contributing to it not happening. This time around, I was determined to keep going, so we had sex for two days after the supposed ovulation date, and that made a difference. So I suspect I was ovulating later than the fertility monitor indicated. (i was not temping, so it's hard to say for sure). Additionally, I conceived my first on the first try. We had sex every single day mid cycle. This was much harder this time around and even on months when I thought we were timing it well, we were still missing days here and there. So this past month, we had sex 6 of the 7 days midweek, including continuing past the time I thought I was ovulating. I also specifically felt for egg white cervical mucous and literally left work and DH did the same and we had a nooner that day, I didn't want to miss the opportunity my body was showing me. (We obviously could not do this in other months!). Even if we were so damn tired, we still did it this month. Even if DS woke us up in the morning, we snuck a morning session in (supposedly men's sperm count is higher in the mornings). I also began to take some supplements, namely: Evening primrose oil daily (for first 2 weeks only), royal jelly, Coenzyme Q10, B6 and B complex, folic acid, whole time, zinc, selenium, L-arganine and then fish oil tabs during 2WW. If you google "angel bumps protocol" you will see a message board where a woman laid out all of the supplements taken, based on her research. It is hugely extensive, so I only took the ones I felt comfortable with. But many women have said those things make a difference. Specifically, b vitamins are very good for correcting issues you may have with progesterone and your luteal phase. Good luck! I have no idea if it was the supplements,
