It’s not feasible to short a stock because of asymmetric risk profile compared to going long; if you buy a stock and hold it, the most you can lose is the money you put in. With shorting there are margin fees, infinite loss potential, margin calls, and manipulation like short squeezes ala gme. It’s in no way equivalent to a yes/no bet. [/quote]
