But it's always good to remind parents of little kids how frequently and quickly these kinds of things go sour. Most of us with older kids have had parent friendships of convenience that just fizzled out because the kids stopped liking each other. If you get too deeply involved when things go sour, you still have to see them at school functions and probably interact with them to some extent too. You are better off making friends that have nothing to do with your kids (like through work or community groups) and getting your kids together occasionally.
