We are eventually going to need some level of government intervention to stabilize job loss due to AI. More and more CEOs are starting to talk about this. I'm hoping that isn't too far away. The unemployment numbers are quite staggering from this year's graduating class. And those who were lucky enough to secure offers are just as nervous about having those offers rescinded. We also have to see how tech evolves to account for this as it's a much greater impact to society.
Going to get off topic, but manufacturing jobs were decimated from NAFTA and there wasn’t government help. Why would there be help now?
For one thing, the velocity with which this change is happening. The death of manufacturing was a slow moving train. By the time it was felt nationwide, it was already behind us. This is a whole different beast. Not unlike the internet age, but adapting to the internet was a whole lot easier than having to adapt to the technology that does your job. All that to say, I hope the government intervenes especially since CEOs are starting to raise the flag. But, then again, with this Administration, bottom line is if it doesn't benefit them, I'm not sure they'll do much. So ... to that end, you may be right!
