I was just agreeing with the PP who said that by dropping the supplemental essays, UVA set themselves up to get more applications than ever this year - which in turn drove down the admit rate. I was using my kid as an example. Meaning, if UVA had supplemental essays this year, DC would not have bothered to apply. Guessing there are plenty of other kids who did the same. Anyway, good for UVA. Looking back on this whole process, my feeling is the fewer supplementals a kid has to write, the better! [/quote]
