I spend 3-6 hours a week on LinkedIn. When I was big 4 I spend 5-10 hours a week. Why not? I was usually posting on train, plane, bus or after wife went to bed and watching TV I also post in morning while getting ready for work or at lunch. I check it around 15-20 times a day, I actually at work unless it is a repost of an approved post I can post nothing work related or related to my current job or post anything that would look bad. So I post interesting information. Often related to prior jobs or prior industries. I post zero about the industry I work in. I need approval for that. And I don't post any politics and all my posts are G rated and original with my original pictures. I find this funny as went to a conference last year and at least 20 people follow me on LinkedIn I did not know. And I was in Boston and Ireland and even Portugal and people follow me. I can get up to 20,000 views on a good post. I even got asked to speak at a conference recently based on my Social Media media following. I can advertise to my people. I do post stuff that is useful to people or interesting. I keep it short and no AI. And btw I picked up habit back in 2004 when I was in Big 4 and in sales. Back then I was inviting people via email who were clients, co-workers, friends as it was new. So they had not yet joined, if I was on non charge for a day I be on it 8 hours and at my peak I was on it 30-40 hours a week. When I do go to conferences which is rare I put my name in the list of attendees or speakers and all the time people come up to introduce themselves. Unlike other social media it is a real name and real contact info and I keep it interesting. Now it is just a hobby of mine. Funny my grown kids follow me and know what I am up from LI more than real life. Don't follow me or block me if you don't like me. In fact I block people who are extreme as I don't even wanted listed I follow them, connected to them or even look at their posts. And yes people who post like me the algorithm is cruel. I need likes and comments and reposts to keep me high on food chain. Not liking is hurtful if you looked at it from an AI point of view, And LI requires 5,000 connections to reach first tier of your posts being shown to non followers, 20,000 you become an influencer with wider reach and at 40,000 or more LI may even pay your to post or you can get sponsors. don't be cruel like his posts, give a comment or repost. It also helps you as just looking and doing nothing throws you down the algo wormhole so if headhunters looking for candidates you don't come up in search much as LI is putting you down to the bottom of the barrel.
What??? Why on earth would anyone but an AI developer be looking at anything at all from an "AI point of view"?
