Whether it’s going to Tysons, Total Wine, or to the movies I find myself going to Virginia way too often on the weekends. Sure it’s a 20 minute drive, but why go to Montgomery Mall or the AMC there when it is objectively a much nicer experience just over the bridge in Tysons? Why go to a grocery store that doesn’t sell wine, is understocked and stuck in the 80s like the Old Georgetown Rd Giant when I can be at the Tysons Wegman’s in 15-20 minutes and not have to go to a liquor store to buy Chardonnay. Maryland politicians realize people in Maryland drive cars and that the richest people in Montgomery County live 10-20 minutes away from Tysons, right?
Everything you describe sounds miserable. Also, you could drive 2 minutes to the Total Wine in Friendship Heights and another 2 minutes to the Wegmans at City Ridge. It's safe to say that your perspective is a tiny, tiny, tiny percentage of the population. Most of us don't like driving much...so why the heck we would want to drive 15-20 minutes?
