If you apply for ANY federal job right now you have to answer the questions below: #3 is especially crazy--you have to pick an Trump Executive Order that you agree with. Let me tell you, having read through them all to help my kid with this---it isn't easy. My son almost went with the one banning paper straws. 1. How has your commitment to the Constitution and the founding principles of the United States inspired you to pursue this role within the Federal government? Provide a concrete example from professional, academic, or personal experience. (limit 1,200 characters) 2. In this role, how would you use your skills and experience to improve government efficiency and effectiveness? Provide specific examples where you improved processes, reduced costs, or improved outcomes. (limit 1,200 characters) In this role with the Federal government, I’d use my skills in organization, planning, and team management to help the government work more efficiently. 3. How would you help advance the President's Executive Orders and policy priorities in this role? Identify one or two relevant Executive Orders or policy initiatives that are significant to you, and explain how you would help implement them if hired. (limit 1,200 characters) 4. How has a strong work ethic contributed to your professional, academic or personal achievements? Provide one or two specific examples, and explain how those qualities would enable you to serve effectively in this position. (limit 1,200 characters)
I actually would be OK with 3 because as a long time civil servant I am under no delusions that Democratic administrations always have the right policy goals. And yes you do need to be able to implement the current admins policies as a civil servant. Even the paper straw EO has merit that I could discuss! The real issue is when hiring becomes more nakedly partisan and requiring support of a candidate (vs just supporting current admin policies which is totally different).
