I find statistics like this to be extremely misleading:
-- How many U.S. citizens are there as opposed to illegal immigrants? Your statistic doesn't take that into account. We should be using statistics that take into account the fact that there are lots more U.S. citizens than illegal immigrants.
-- Your statistic is also heavily shaped by the fact that there is one race that commits a disproportionate number of crimes, and most Americans find the disproportionate number of crimes committed by that race to be extremely troubling. So any comparison that includes that race makes it seem as though we should accept the murder rate by that race, when we certainly should not.
