I'm just learning that this classroom exists and I'm trying to learn more from families who've actually been through it. I'm especially curious whether it works well for kids who have interfering behaviors alongside their communication needs, since MCPS's description focuses mostly on the communication/language side.

MCPS describes it as "AAC classrooms provide intensive support for students in kindergarten through Grade 2 who are nonverbal or have limited speech with severe intelligibility issues. Students learn to use and expand their knowledge of augmentative communication devices and other forms of aided communication to access the general education curriculum. Emphasis is on the use of alternative communication systems to enhance language development, vocabulary development, and expressive communication skills. Services and supports are often provided within the general education environment to the greatest extent possible."
