My son is gifted in math and science
How do you define his giftedness?
No definition, just some observations. The teacher said he learned the regrouping of addition with one explanation and applied the concept to numbers up to a million. He did mental addition and subtraction up to hundreds before anybody had paid attention to his ability. After the teacher explained multiplication concept for a few minutes, he could deduct and got answers to up to 12x12 without memorizing anything. When he was in Kindergarten he was quite average cause he was slow in reading and communication. But once he got in first grade, all of sudden he showed great gift in learning math. For science, he usually asks many many questions about things, and once in a few days he forms his own idea about how things are formed. He has tried some small experiments to prove his ideas. Sometimes they are silly but still amazing. Of course he has his problems - he got in trouble frequently... he played with his pencil box during a test and did not even write a word; he got in play fights with other boys; he kept talking to other kids when the teacher was teaching; he more than often did not pay attention to the teacher or did not read instructions when doing school work, etc etc... His NNAT was only 135 cause he missed a page. We are hoping that he did not miss any pages for CogAT... BTW, after the CogAT test or the NNAT, he came home retelling many of the questions :) I feel that he is gifted, but could be just talented as his NNAT is only 135...
Why would you assume that he missed a page?
