Dispelling the myth from other threads about the “vibe is just different at metros”. Metros is MoCo and all WCAC schools, which recruit kids from all over the DMV so also covers a wide range of counties, or something like that. Primary concentration of Class 6 VHSL are in NoVa, which just have better swimmers than MoCo + WCAC.
no dog in the fight, what is this based on? what can we look at to see who is correct? top times at these two meets this year?
You just can’t compare the meets if it’s a VA vs Maryland thing. Maybe they want to compare swimmers from Fairfax county to Montgomery County? PP sounds unhinged with the “elitist attitude” comment. Swimming ebbs and flows and right now MD seeing a bit of a change, likely due to COVID closures. MD lost many talented swimmers who would be in high school right now. Keep in mind Metros includes the swimmers from one public school district. Of the top 7 scoring teams, you have an occasional out of state private school swimmer (GP- out of the top 7 scoring men, 1 was from VA. Dematha had none of their swimmers from out of state. On the women’s side, GC had zero, SR had 2 from DC, and HA had zero swimmers from out of state. That said, the swimmers from all of these schools aren’t fast because of the school they attend, it comes down to where they train. My guess is that OP is that insecure NCAP west club parent who is always trolling the NCAP Prep site. Comparing winners from each men’s event, it looks like Metros had the fastest swim for the majority of events: 200 free- Metros 200im- metros 50 free- vhsl (.01 faster than Metros winner’s best time) 100 fly- metros 100 free- vhsl 500 free- metros 100 back- metros 100 breast- vhsl To note- all of the event winners are from Montgomery County.
