Our refrigerator died and I thought it would be really easy to replace but so far I’m struggling to find one that meets all our criteria. I thought I finally found the perfect one from Kitchen Aid but the reviews were bad (and it’s a bit above my budget of $2500). We’re looking for a counter-depth stainless steel French door refrigerator with a water/ice dispenser on the exterior door (this is an important feature for us but many don’t have it). Ideally 24-26 cubic feet (most are smaller). If you’ve purchased a similar one in the last 1-2 years that you’re happy with, please share. And if you know of a store beyond Home Depot, Lowe’s and Bray and Scarf with a lot on display, I’d appreciate that info as well.
They all suck, unfortunately. Measure carefully, especially the clearance at the top. If your current fridge is like 10 years old or not, it might be shorter than the standard height now, which tends to be taller than the clearance of cabinets (if yours fits under your cabinet). I'm literally having to remove a cabinet because the 70" tall won't fit. And like 90% of them today are at least 70" tall, especially if you want one with French doors and freezer on the bottom.
This is excellent advice. Fortunately, we have a lot of height.
