And that's the process that the school system says will happen in these situation. Not just for shootings that happened at a nearby school, but for any shooting in the vicinity of a school. It's not that it's assumed they're going to target another school, but it's assumed police officers will be searching and the gunman will be hiding/ running. They want to make sure they can't run to a school and use kids to confuse the pursuit or to prevent any small chance a kid could be in a crossfire that could happen in a pursuit. Those are not likely outcomes, but it is a precaution that school's take. [/quote]
