https://bold.org/scholarships/kevin-david-special-education-scholarship-for-montgomery-county-public-schools/?_gl=1*1otzqhy*_ga*MTk5NzM0NjEuMTc3MDE2MTU3OA..*_ga_6DVE5YBJNP*czE3NzAyNDM4NzgkbzIkZzEkdDE3NzAyNDQ0MDkkajE5JGwwJGgw I figured I'd post this in here rather than the college forum because I wanted to make sure only MCPS families saw it. I am a teacher here in MCPS and I have started a scholarship fund for our MCPS seniors who have received Special Education Services and are ready to make that next step to higher education. These students have worked very hard at overcoming difficult challenges and I wanted to reward them for their hard work and efforts in choosing to further their education. Criteria to be eligible for the scholarship are as follows: -MCPS Senior who has received Special Education Services at some point in their educational journey -Minimum 2.5 GPA -Accepted to a 2 or 4 year college or university -1 teacher recommendation -Short 200–500-word essay explaining how Special Education services and teachers have helped you achieve your educational goals. There will be 3 winners who will receive a $1000 award. I am hoping to be able to increase that in future years. I am funding this through my private funds as well as with profits from an upcoming book I have published. Those who wish to donate to the fund are encouraged to do so through the Bold.Org platform. The scholarship is being run and administrated through Bold.Org so students will need to register an account on that platform. Applications can be submitted now through May 3rd and winners will be announced on June 4th, just in time for Graduation season. I have e-mailed all the CCN's in the county with this opportunity as well. I just want to thank all of you parents who have worked so hard to support your students with their education and offer my best to you and your students in the future.
