I think they have expanded housing so off campus housing is less common. there are nearby apartments, places to live in Charles Village etc. Loyola has a campus feel. It is in a safe/lovely party of the city. The York Road side is a little more urban. Go check it out! the city has a lot to offer.
The Loyola kids don’t live in Charles Village.
It's been a long time for me, students would definitely rent houses in Charles Village. Towson was less common, but had more opportunites for off campus jobs - there are a lot more apartments there now. Loyola has housing for 4 years and most people live on campus. I would imagine some precentage of commuters live with their families, especially after the first 2 years. Again, many years ago, it was common for people in certain majors (education, business) to live at home their last year to facilitate student teaching or internships.
I went to Hopkins and lived three years off campus in Charles Village. There simply isn’t enough housing available for students for Loyola students to live there, it’s all Hopkins. Someone above mentioned Loyola students living in the Social, which is in Tuscany Canterbury. That makes mich more sense, as fewer Hopkins students live there and Tuscany-Canterbury is directly adjacent to the Loyola campus, so within walking distance, Charles Village would not be a walk. There are several apartment buildings right next to the Social.
