It was his program that automatically checks everyone's fingerprints in local jails to identify individuals violating immigration law. Because of the backlash, the federal government switched Security Communitites to a "Priority Enforcement Program," which just targeted the worst offenders. Trump overturned that in 2016 and it's gone downhill ever since. There are definitely some bad actors we need to get out of the country. But they are such a small minority of all undocumented immigrants. And they are known to law enforcement. The huge resource dump we've put into this is ridiculous.
