I have a severely deviated septum (the scan showed a complete blockage of my left nasal cavity it due to it) and can’t breathe out of one nostril. I’ve seen someone at Feldman ENT mainly because I have recurrent sinus infections related to it. The dr recommends surgery but it isn’t “necessary” surgery so I keep putting it off.
Also put the surgery off until I got a sphenoid sinus infection and could no longer wait. So glad I ended up getting it, being able to breathe well is amazing.
Yes- we did the doc visit and they want us to go through the dr. neals saline washing and nasal spray until they would recommend surgery. I'd rather go straight to surgery. I don't see constant nose rinsing being the answer
It’s a great first step! You don’t want a doctor who jumps right to surgery. Surgery is still surgery and carries risks.
Op here- my kid does have a pretty bad deviated septum. Insurance requires 6 weeks of nasal spray prior to approving surgery. Dr said he would be shocked if the spray did anything and we scheduled surgery for after.
NP: It'd be great if he can get the surgery right after 6 weeks so he can be fully recovered before prom, before summer, before college.
He is! He has a two week spring break early starting March 28.
