But the biggest thing is that Las Vegas embraced corporate enshittification. The Vegas of today sucks. The hotels are empty but they still charge an arm and a leg for absolutely everything - from absurd "resort fees" to $7 bottles of water. The working and middle class can't afford Vegas anymore, and the rich have better places to go. And, of course, the Canadians and many foreigners won't go anywhere near the US these days, which really hurts Vegas. So Vegas today is increasingly a desolate wasteland.

If Vegas wants to survive, they are going to have to go back to their roots as an affordable and seedy mecca for vice.
