I assume they don’t have to use the extra time if they don’t need it for that test?
I’m a HS teacher and it depends on the timing of the test. For the students with extended time, I will have their tests copied single sided and only give them part of the test. They will receive one portion of the test. Once a certain time passes, I won’t give them part 2 if there is a chance they won’t finish. You will (or won’t) be surprised how many times we are burned by kids saying they have enough time to finish and request the second half of the test. They get it, say they don’t have enough time and say they need to come back the next day. They just wanted to see the test and come back to it later. If they finish part 1 very fast they can have part 2. But it is not a given that they won’t have to use their extended time if it is an accommodation. In my school, they come during our mascot block to finish part 2.
