My daughters both graduated from McLean and the profile was similar! Academically they got the right support they needed. I think they both really found their niche socially at McLean (could be big fishes in small ponds) and while there are fewer girls than boys, their graduating classes had a solid mix. Plus, kids socialize with not just their own grade so they could hang with older and younger students. Socially there are definitely some clicks like you'd find in public school (athletes, theater, more academic, etc). BUT, I will say i found the girls to be really kind to eachother and not mean girl behavior. There were aboslutely shyer kids with anxiety who were welcomed and found their people. To answer your other questions.... yes, they hang with Churchill if someone knows from there, or Whitman, or other publics. Also other private schools if they have friends there. My girls were both pretty open with me and drugs were never mentioned as a thing at McLean like they knew friends were dealing with at other schools (have I heard someone smoked pot somewhere else - sure - but it was not the norm). Drinking - also not a huge part of their social life. They were hanging out with smaller groups of friends and it just wans't the party atmosphere for weekends like I know other kids are having. Hope that helps!
